Adopting the smart ticket system on January 1, 2008, said buses will be able to count their passengers, be controlled from a center, and optimize the services they provide. GPS and GPRS equipment have been installed in the buses, so that their routes, occupancy rates, number of passengers embarking at each stop, and shifts of the drivers can be monitored on-line at an operations center, making it possible to optimize the system and to increase its profitability.
